Ryan A: “We Run It” (ft. J Rush) – a razor sharp, gritty flow

Written by on 13 May 2017

There are a few familiar faces in the underground hip-hop scene, East Coast specifically, that experienced listeners are sure to recognize. Then there are others just starting to break ground, but no less talented. Ryan A is an upcoming rap and RnB artist from Massachusetts. He recently dropped the single “We Run It” (ft. J Rush), from his upcoming album “Illusions In The Mirror”. Ryan A’s deadpan voice flows impeccably through the beat on this track.

Apart from being a lyrical rapper, he certainly knows how to command a listener’s attention with his words. His voice does that well enough, in fact he sounds like he knows how to ride just about any beat.

Ryan A also proves that he isn’t a bad storyteller either, and will grab your attention with “We Run It” (ft. J Rush). Generally, it’s fair to say that Ryan A is a good rapper and great lyricist, and once he focuses even more on his songwriting ability and consistency, he will no doubt be noticed among his peers, who are arguably some of the best in the game.

Predictably Ryan A is aiming to become a fixture in the world of hard edged hip hop. A career he’s probably been training for since a very young age.

Looking back on some of his songs, like “Empty”, “Soldier” or “The Journey” Ft. Zj Mission, we hear how Ryan A has been slinging his dark stories with a razor sharp, gritty flow and growing his craft with each successive recording. His new single, “We Run It” (ft. J Rush), though less overwhelming in the production department, may be his greatest musical achievement to date.

Featuring an airy piano dominated soundscape filled with a heavy, bass loaded thump, Ryan A displays his impressive control of the mic as he spits out the song. His dizzying array of wordplay, and snare tight flow, as well as the emotion which transpires during certain parts of the song, is what makes this cut outshine anything he’s done before, in my personal opinion.

An added plus that has to be taken into account is that Ryan A is also a beat-maker who produces his own music. This makes him an all-round versatile artist. So right now Ryan A may be the new kid on the block but he owns all the tools and is sharpening his skillset which will be put to work on his upcoming album release, “Illusions In The Mirror”.
